Stove Shelters for Urban Health Video

The video we created as part of my work at Every Life is finally ready!  Many hours of work went into creating this film, and we are so pleased with the result.

Let me tell you some reasons why this video is special to me:
  • It teaches an important public health intervention which is affordable and attainable to many.
  • It takes place in an urban setting and is relevant to the needs of slum dwellers (the majority of Ugandan health education materials cater to a village setting)
  • People in our communities who are typically treated as invisible get to see themselves and their neighbors on the big screen
  • It showcases the talent of Ugandan film makers and artists
  • A version was also created in the local language (Luganda).  Rather than have to watch a film with English subtitles or poor dubbing, people in our communities finally get to watch a film in the language they know best.
  • It features some of my very hard-working and dedicated colleagues from Every Life.  These men and women have such a passion to help their community.
